With Dr. Anna Josephson, I run the Applied International Development Economics (AIDE) Lab. We research a range of topics in applied economics around the world. We presently have MSc Graduate Research Assistantship opportunities available for students interested in working on issues of food security, agriculture, and shocks. We are always seeking students with expertise in statistical analysis and programming (e.g. Stata, Python, R).

Bio/Research Interests
Rafi completed his B.S. in Agricultural Economics at Bangladesh Agricultural University and he has previous experience of working with FAO and IRRI Bangladesh office. He is enthusiastic about researching development economics and impact analysis fields. Rafi plans to continue his studies with a Ph.D. after completing his MS.

Chandrakant's research interests include behavioral development economics, most notably the economics of discrimination. He pursued a B. Tech. in Petrochemical Engineering followed by an MBA in Management. He wishes to continue his studies with a Ph.D. after completing his MS in Applied Economics & Policy Analysis from the University of Arizona.

Bio/Research Interests
Lorin’s research interests include the economic impact of environmental degradation in extractive resources, and household economic resiliency to catastrophic events. Before studying at the University of Arizona, he worked as a Practice Transition Coordinator and Statistician at a medical clinic in Tucson. Lorin plans to pursue a Ph.D. in environmental and resource economics after completing the degree in AREC.

Bio/Research Interests
Ann’s research interests include the intersectionality of climate, environmental, racial, and gender justice. Prior to starting the master’s program, Ann worked as a Senior Research Analyst at an environmental and economic consulting firm in Cambridge, MA.
Ann currently works as a researchers at Cambridge Econometrics, a consulting and policy analysis firm in Massachusettes.

Emil Kee-TuiM.S. in Applied Economics & Policy Analysis
Bio/Research Interests
Emil was a Graduate Research Assistant from 2019 to 2021. He is interested in institutional economics, particularly how it effects economic development for households. He grew up in Zimbabwe and prior to coming to the University of Arizona earned a BA in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics, from Colby College.
Emil is currently a Ph.D. student in Applied Economics at Cornell University, with the goal of working in international development. He continues to work on his research as part of the AIDE Lab.

Laura McCannM.S. in Applied Economics & Policy Analysis
Bio/Research Interests
Laura was a Graduate Teaching Assistant from 2020 to 2021. She is interested in mixed methods research that drives decision making, specifically with respect to the impacts of race, class, and gender on public policy. Before her graduate studies at UA, she studied Environmental Science and Russian at the University of Florida and later worked as a program evaluation manager in Chicago.
Laura is currently earning a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Governance at the University of Arizona. She continues to work on her research as part of the AIDE Lab.

Bio/Research Interests
Growing up in Los Angeles during periods of drought throughout California, Brian developed a keen interest in water use and its effects on the environment and local economies. In addition to his BS in Environmental & Water Resource Economics, Brian is working towards an MSc as part of the Accelerated Master's Program.
Brian is currently a Ph.D. student in Quantitative Ecology and Resource Management at the University of Washington.
